Good show :) it gives the sky a lot more impact!

Are you sure you used hard light, and not soft light?

Hard light would have made it almost black and wiped out all your whites, if you used a black grad that is?

What i did was

1) Make a new layer underneath the original image.
2) I then made a gradient from black through to transparent
3) i then set the image to hard light.
4) Shazam, one image above ^^

Thanks for the help

nice shot, I love the rich blues
have you tried doing this sort of thing with layer masks? it's quite handy =p
Nice composition, though it might be nice to see a bit of the horizon to give some scale to the photo :) Also, there's a bit of noise, but I guess that can't really be helped :)
overall, looks really nice

basically, you add a mask to a photo (the button down the bottom of the layers window, with the circle in a rectangle), and then everything you paint in black on that mask layer will cause the layer than the mask is applied to to become transparent :)

so, if you duplicate your photo layer, and tweak it, making it darker, more contrasted, etc, and then add a mask, you could apply a gradient to that in B&W (white at top, black at bottom) so that the new layer would show at the top of the photo, while the old layer would be visible through.

it's a little hard to explain :bucktooth: just have a play around I think =p
