Is R.I.P...(Resting in Pieces)
ProfileGalleryPrintsFavesJournal

DeviantArt has changed, or it feels like it...

Journal Entry: Tue May 19, 2009, 6:11 PM
So, Deviantart eh? Its bloody old now...i mean really old. Its had a number of changes to it in the past, visual changes new features, new ideas, film now being brought into the community finally =D. But from my perspective something else has changed...

The Deviants themselves...

Going back, when you submitted a piece of work, you could almost guarantee that by the time ot reach the bottom of the main page after being pushed along by other people submitting work, you would have had at least 1 comment on your work. Now this was great, it promoted community spirit and kept people together, people made new friends and that added to the community. Now, when ever a piece of work is submitted, there rarely seems a time when people will comment on it. People just look at your work and skim over it. It feels like now, you actually have to specifically ask people to check out your work and comment on it. And even then, its lucky if people will comment or give you a half decent answer on it. Hell i mean, even new deviants don't get the "Hey there and welcome to DA" on their profile page like you used too. I mean, Am I being too picky and asking to much of the community?

Thoughts always welcome

Take it easy!!

Peace out

have you tried the critique system already? its much more effective... also, remember that old motto? comment to get comments? :flirty:

but I'm with you in essence, tho... the number of comments have gone down

No, I don't think you're being too picky. I've noticed the same thing too and it's totally frustrating. I'm not able to do too much work now with my arms the way they are and it's very off outting when I suffer through pain and agony just to draw one picture to have it skimmed over.

The bigger the community, the more favoritism goes on, it seems. If you aren't in a specific circle, you aren't anyone of interest.

I get about 10 faves or collections per comment, and I get many more short comments like 'awesome' than ones with any real insight or opinion.

Iunno - good critique is hard to give. I'm happy that some people enjoy my stuff enough to collect or favor it. When I get a good critique I cherish it. So, I try and make certain that others get what I'd like to get - as good a critique as I can give. Seems to make a difference. *shrug*
